Review:

As the temperature drops into the 40’s and below this fall, it always reminds me winter is on it’s way! And we all need a little extra warmth and coziness in our apparel. I had been hearing really good comments on the everywhere pants from 686 and was very intrigued by the merino lined variation for colder weather. I chose the slim fit, since that is the fit that works for my body type. There is a relaxed fit version that provides the same features in a more relaxed fit if that’s your preference, thanks 686 for the options!

I usually wear a 30″ inseam, in this pant it was recommended to go with a 32″ inseam. This worked out well as the stitching allows you to cuff the pant with a tasteful red accent stitch when needed, and when you’re wearing boots in the snow unfold the cuff for some extra length and protection from the cold.

The merino wool liner is ultra soft and not bulky so you won’t feel suffocated by fabric, you really don’t want to take these pants off… ever. They are that comfortable. The stretchy fabric makes them feel like you are wearing a pair of your favorite sweatpants! Don’t be skeptical about wearing these on a hike and out to dinner they are perfect for any occasion in the Fall, Winter, or even Spring.

I’ve worn the 686 everywhere merino lined pant around the house in the winter, and outside for any activity in temps from the low 30’s up to about 50 degrees and they will keep you warm and wrapped in comfort all day long. The pants breathe well, so even if you’re moving quickly they will wick the sweat away from your body. If you plan to wear these pants in wet and wintry conditions you’ll be happy to know they have a DWR finish to resist water/stains. I spent many a day shoveling snow in these pants and never had any issues with wet pants after, and I could continue wearing them all day. You’ll want to wash them after a few days of use, no reason to not refresh the most versatile pant so you’re feeling fresh.

There’s plenty of pockets, ten on this model, so you’ll have plenty of options for storing your wallet, keys, phone, or whatever else you need. The front pockets are a bit shallow, but the back pockets work well, and the zippered thigh pocket is great for storing your wallet and/or keys.

Overall Impressions:

The 686 mens everywhere merino-lined pant (slim fit) lived up to my expectations, these pants are great for Fall, Winter, and Spring. You’ll be wrapped in comfort all day and night, indoors or outdoors, you really can’t go wrong with these pants. I highly recommend these pants for any outdoor activity or lounging around in the winter time.
