Review:
686 has been designing and creating technical outerwear since the 1990’s that pushes the boundaries of design and interaction with the outdoor environment, each piece is created to enhance your experience in the snow and it shows.
The 686 mens waterproof anorak is tastefully designed with a modern fit that is loose enough for layering when you need too. The softshell fabric is stretchy, which you’ll appreciate when you’re slipping the anorak on and off over your head, it is also easy to pull off over a helmet. The polyester fleece backing is lightweight and soft, providing a slight amount of insulation.
This anorak jacket should be considered a shell. It will be great for layering on colder days. Here in Colorado, 10K waterproofing/breathability will work out for most days of riding so you might consider you will need another jacket for wet or stormy snow conditions. The price point for this jacket is great so you can have an option for to get a 15K or Gore Tex jacket as well. Personally I like to have a few different jackets to choose from for the conditions I’ll be riding in. The 686 waterproof anorak fits in as a great piece for resort riding and park days when I need a waterproof layer and not just a hoodie.
The anorak does not have pit zips only a grommet vent, but the front zipper provides an option to vent when it gets warm out when you’re riding up on the lift. The velcro kangaroo pouch has 2 sets of velcro on the outer portion and inside the pouch, it a roomy pouch, that’s all the storage that is available. The Hood is large enough to pull up over a helmet, and you can synch down the drawcords for extra warmth on those cold or windy days.
Overall Impressions:
The 686 waterproof anorak is a great piece to have for resort riding. It’s stylish, lightweight, and has some great features for the price. If you are looking for something a bit different, or as a shell to add to your apparel collection for snowboarding, this anorak jacket is pretty sweet! Check out the 686 mens waterproof anorak jacket!
