Review: NHS, Inc. launched their Bronson Speed Co. bearings a few months back, after spending 35 months developing them. Their goal was to completely reinvent a skateboard product that has lacked any real innovation for over thirty years — the bearing. They claim their bearings are the fastest, strongest, longest-lasting, longest-spin skateboarding bearing ever made. We put them to the test!
Right off the start, these bearings are a cut above anything else I’ve ever tried. They come neatly packaged in a tin that has a slide-off lid; inside, the bearings are nitrogen sealed in shrink wrap so the lube stays fresh, the washers are placed between each bearing, and the spacers are sealed in their own package as well. I put a set of Bronson bearings on my set up as well as my son’s. This really allowed for a wide range of abuse; I weigh 205 lbs., so I put them under greater stress than he does. He’s 10, and tends to destroy bearings by leaving his board outside, riding through dirt and puddles, etc.. After all of that, I’m super impressed with the quality of these bearings, as both of ours still spin as they did when I first put them in. They continue to roll smooth and are super quiet. Normally I’d have had to do a fair amount of maintenance by now, but not on these. Bronson Speed Co. bearings live up to their claims for sure.
Most shops have them for about $30, which in my opinion is a steal considering Bones Ceramics are about twice that.
