Review:
In 2018 Slytech introduced the Flexi line of protection products that are lightweight, thinner, and even more low-profile than the NoShock line. After using the Slytech Backpro NoShock XT Naked last season I was looking forward to seeing what this next generation of lower profile back protection had to offer, check out my previous review of the XT Naked for more information. I was already very happy with the fit and protection of the Backpro NoShock XT Naked, so the Flexi Lite back protector had to live up to those expectations. As expected, it’s a much slimmer and thinner profile. SHREDs Slytech Flexi line made great improvements in making this back protector almost unnoticeable when it’s on under your outerwear. I wear the Flexi Lite over my base layer, as I did with the Backpro NoShock XT Naked, with the straps slightly loose for comfort and also allowing me extra room for movement, the Flexi Lite is very comfortable to wear with just the belt as well and stays in place without shoulder straps too. The belt is easy to use and has belt connectors built in to it to connect to your snowboard pants which is a great improvement over the Backpro NoShock XT Naked to keep the back protector from sliding up your abdomen when riding. Even though the Flexi Lite has slightly less protection than the NoShock (Flexi meets Level 1 European Motorsport standard (EN 1621-2 Level 1 CB) it provides a great amount of protection while riding from your tailbone to your shoulders. The Flexi Lite also has great ventilation so you won’t overheat, and you can remove the padding around the back protector to wash and keep it clean when needed.

Summary: This is great option for protection in the backcountry, side country or even resort riding. If you are looking for a back protector for general use that is low profile and breathes well the Flexi Lite is a great choice.
