Giro Revolt Snow Goggles Review

The revolt takes notes from a moto cylindrical style goggle, but it’s built for the mountains. Whether you are shredding pow, park, or groomers on sunny/cloudy days or at a night session, with the included clear lens, it’s a stylish goggle with superior optics.

About Vivid lens technology:

In partnership with ZEISS®, we(Giro) created our patented VIVID technology to optimize vision in all snow-affected light environments. VIVID technology does this by blocking out the spectrum of light that creates flat light conditions. More importantly, VIVID allows in the spectrum of light that improves contrast in snow conditions—the blue light part of the spectrum. This is the VIVID difference. The result is maximum contrast to see the details of your terrain, while also providing full UV protection

Review:

I’ve always appreciated the optical clarity of Giro goggles, and I was excited to see what the Revolt brought to the table. Giro worked with their snow team to create a more stylish goggle that is helmet compatible, and reduced some of the frame for frameless elements on the revolt. The result is a stylish looking goggle that should appeal to most riders, with a wide range of face sizes. These goggles are comfortable, provide superior optical clarity and peripheral vision. I have a medium face profile, and still prefer a larger goggle. The revolt fits a bit more like a traditional cylindrical goggle but still provides great optical clarity and I haven’t noticed any unwanted glare during sunny days with these goggles, they have performed above my expectations for a goggle in the $100 price range.

You’re not going to get all of the benefits of a spherical lens with these, and I wouldn’t expect that, if these are your first goggles or you just want a more stylish option, the revolt is a great choice. I would go as far to say you won’t really notice much difference in these cylindrical goggles than the spherical options, unless you really prefer a high end spherical lens. If you don’t want to pay upwards of $200 for a goggle, then don’t!

The triple face foam is comfortable, and feels good all day long, I appreciate the wide strap on the goggle, in the past I didn’t like a thinner strap so it’s nice to see a wider strap that won’t slip off my helmet easily with the grippy bands on the inside of the strap it stays put on your helmet.

I have worn these in most conditions from sunny days to cloudy and snowing heavily. I haven’t had any issues with fogging at all, which is what I’ve come to expect from Giro, they have really perfected their anti-fogging capabilities in all of their goggles.

Overall Impressions:

If you are looking for stylish goggles that you can use in almost any condition and don’t want to spend a lot of money on a higher end goggle, check out the revolt. This goggle delivers in style, superior optical clarity, great peripheral vision, and will last for several seasons. A great addition to Giro’s line up.

  • Great peripheral vision
  • Great Lens enhancing and optical clarity
  • Easy to change out lenses
  • Lightweight

  • none
