OGRT had the opportunity to test GoldCoast Skateboards Classic Bamboo Drop Through Longboard and we were quite impressed with the attention to detail GoldCoast put in to the design aesthetic of this board; the clear grip tape and black highlights on the plies really accentuates its timeless appeal.
GoldCoast Skateboards Founders have roots in the action sports industry, with several decades of industry knowledge, branding, and design under their belts, so it’s no coincidence this Salt Lake City- and California-based brand is putting out some cool product and are focused on bringing a different and fun perspective to the market.
I was really excited to just cruise around on this longboard from the looks alone. It was much lighter than I expected, due to the bamboo construction, which also creates a softer flex as compared to a maple deck. You can definitely feel the flex with this board; I was a bit concerned at first, but after a few races down a local hill those concerns were all but wiped from my mind. This board can accelerate and hold speeds on hills and flat ground really well, and the Shred Boot Wheels gripped just enough so that I could carve with ease. I welcomed the flex of the bamboo when carving; it felt smooth as silk, like carving a powder turn on my snowboard. The century trucks are pretty standard, and work just fine for cruising. This is a great medium-length, all around cruising longboard for a good price, and GoldCoast has a three year warranty and will stand behind their product if there are any issues. I would recommend this longboard if you want some flex in your carving for a fun feeling, and if you are looking for an all-around cruising or freeride complete, the GoldCoast Classic Bamboo Drop Through will be a good addition to your arsenal.
