Immortal Laces

photoBreaking laces sucks!  Skating is extremely hard on shoes, as any experienced skater knows.  We all look for shoes that will hold up to the abuse we plan to put them through.  One area that is over looked is shoe laces; skating is brutal on those as well.  I’ve broken a lot of laces, and now realize that the laces that most shoes come with are pretty cheap. Immortal Laces sent us a bunch of their laces to test out.

Immortal Laces were conceptualized by Dan Ryan and Eric DuRose back in 2014.  Eric was using work boot laces in his skate shoes and eventually breaking those as well.  They set out to create the ultimate skate lace, and after a lot of trial and error…Immortal Laces were born.  Immortal Laces are handmade in the U.S. from nylon cord and high-quality metal aglets.  The high-quality material and construction means laces that are durable and hold up to the abuse doled out by skateboarding or other action sports.

IMG_1418I put a set of Immortal Laces White Zombies in a new pair of DC Shoes Rob Dyrdek’s and set out to punish them.  The laces are not your traditional flat laces; they are a round cord style.  I found that they do come unlaced a little easier than your traditional lace.  They ship with an instructional sheet on how to keep them tied, and once I tied them this way I no longer had an issue.  I skated almost daily and ollied as much as possible to see how the laces would hold up.  I have to say I am impressed; my shoes have a large ollie hole in them and the rubber is very worn but the Immortal Laces still look new. They really held up to the abuse.  I plan to put them in all my skate shoes from this point forward.  They have quite a few styles to choose from, and come in a lot of lengths to accommodate pretty much any shoe style.  The only negative I can really think of is they are a bit heavier than a standard lace.  They may seem expensive, but if they last five times as long as your standard lace, they’re worth the cost.  They also have a replace the lace guarantee, and ship them free.  Chances are you’ll be replacing your shoes before breaking a pair of these laces…they are Immortal after all. 4-up-long
