Tim Preston, the founder of Lion Laces, was kind enough to send over a bunch of laces for us to test. Preston, started Lion Laces in 2013 in an attempt to solve an age old skate problem…broken laces. Grip tape is brutal on laces and shoes, Lion Laces claim their laces last 5 times stronger than your standard lace. So we put Lion Laces o the test.
Lion Laces are constructed from high strength polyester, most laces are made from nylon or blends of inexpensive materials. The majority of your tie down straps are made from polyester. Through my years of skating its always baffled me that most skate shoes come with really cheap laces. My son and I hit skate parks as much as possible. There is always one dude with shoes that are done, ollie holes, laces tied together with make shift knots, etc. The laces from Lion look like a traditional lace, which is quite different than the rope style of Immortal Laces we tested a few weeks back. One giant advantage with the Lion Laces…they stay tied like a traditional lace.
These are not your average lace, but a lace made for skaters that truly lasts longer. They also just launched a snowboard lace, look for a review of those this winter!
