Oakley 2019 Preview
Oakley always has a new innovation to show-off at SIA. Last year they launched their Prizm line, a lens technology that enhances contrast and visibility over a wide range of light conditions. But, depending on the day you may need two lenses. This year, they debuted a game changer. Oakley’s newest goggle, the Prizm React eliminates the need to carry a second lens. The new design allows a user to adjust between three tints (dark, medium and light) with the touch of a button on either side of the frame. They helped develop this technology for military use over the last 10 years and are now putting it into their snow line. Prizm React works through the shifting of ions between two lenses inside the goggle. We were able to demo the React and were very impressed. They look and feel like an average pair of frameless goggles. When you push the button on either side of the frame to adjust the tint, it lightly vibrates to let you know it’s going to the next setting. The battery will last up to a month and is charged by an internal USB port. Probably the most impressive feature; a $299 price tag.
