Review:

Odin Manufacturing is a Canadian company mostly known for motorcycle gear. Started by two brothers with big dreams, they took influences in their life growing up and applied this to their designs. The short cycling season up North led to branching out to the winter sports they enjoyed growing up as well.

I came across their mitts and loved the look of the “Beat it Nerd” mitts. They were fun and unique and something I figured no one else near me would be wearing. Odin worked with a local legend snowboarder, Dwayne Weibe on the fun design of these mitts.

Odin Mfg has a few unique features in their mitts. One of their signature features is the glove magnet, a fairly strong magnet sewn into the mitts. The glove magnet is not something I had seen before and has proved to be pretty useful. It comes in handy drying the mitts after use and I find it useful at the end of the day just to keep them together before putting them in my gear bag. The magnet is really strong and I’ve had my mitts stick to my truck and other metal a few times.

The Kevlar lined palms are very durable and hand drags, grabs, etc have not phased the palm one bit. Between that and the Full Cow leather construction, I am sure these mitts will hold up well to a lot of use. I tend to be pretty rough on my gear and I see these lasting well.

The Odin mitts have seven layers of insulation to keep your hands warm. I’ve used them in -10 degrees to 30 degrees Fahrenheit and they have kept me plenty warm.

The neoprene cuff is also a nice feature. It stays snug on your wrist and easily slides under the cuff of your jacket. I have big hands and I find sometimes that if it’s easy enough to get the mitts on, then they are too loose around the wrist. These had just the right amount of stretch to get them over my hands and then slide nicely under my jacket and stay put well. They are easy to get on and off, with plenty of room for your fingers to move around inside with no separation for your fingers.

On the few days that the mitts got a bit snowy and wet, I did find they take a bit longer than most other mitts to dry out. They don’t have any touch screen capabilities/material but slide on easily enough to pull your hand in and out as needed. There’s been a little separation of the inner material from the outer shell, which doesn’t affect the use at all.

Overall impressions:

The Odin Manufacturing Mitt is a stylish mitt providing ample warmth in most conditions. They have some really unique features that are an added bonus. Overall, these have been a great mitt for the weather here and I love the unique design.
