Review:
It’s always fun to try new wax, we were lucky enough to speak with the owner of Rat Cheese Gourmet Wax at Parts and Labor in January, it was great to hear his story about Rat Cheese Gourmet Wax and we’re really stoked we are able to sample some rat cheese gourmet snow wax over the last few months.

Rat Cheese Gourmet Snow Wax is a hot wax (not to be used as a rub on wax) hand poured and comes in a clever cardboard package that looks just like a wedge out of a cheese wheel, once you open the package it gets even better as the blue snow wax looks just like a wedge of swiss cheese, with holes and all, (holes don’t go all the way through the product). It has a unique smell that’s quite pleasing when waxing and in storage, which I always appreciate. They say it smells like “paradise” and I have to agree, it’s beachy! Beyond the eye catching aesthetics of Rat Cheese Gourmet Snow Wax let’s talk about the wax itself and how it performed.

The wax is blue, so it has a slight blue color when applied that goes away once it’s applied onto your base, it goes on easy and smooth, just as wax should. It scrapes off easily and buffs out really well. Big thumbs up for the application process.

I rode the All Temp Rat Cheese Wax in varied conditions from 20 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit on several different boards and it’s a good all temp wax, I felt it performed better above 32 degrees fahrenheit, and that’s what I would expect for an all temp wax. It does well in warm temperatures and I preferred it in Spring conditions. I wax quite often, after every 2 to 3 days of riding and every day for warmer temps in the spring, after 4 months of use I’m almost through my gourmet wax wedge so If you wax heavily then a wedge should last you about a season, and for $11 that’s not bad! If you’re looking for a good all temp hot wax for snow sports give Rat Cheese Gourmet Snow Wax a try.

Note: Rat Cheese Wax also has wax for Skate and Surf which we have not tried yet, it comes in the same clever packaging.
