Chris’ Review:
Size: 8-8.5 Mens
After using the Tread Labs stride insole for a few years, I was very excited to hear about the new line of insoles. The Pace insole is designed to reduce foot pain and provide a more cushioned feel (helps aid with pain from Plantar Fasciitis for example). These insoles are much different than the stride insole, I notice right away the enhanced cushion feel, the open-cell polyurethane foam was like a pillow under my foot, and the cover fabric, with low friction, reduced any movement/sliding around of my foot on the insole. Tread Labs incorporates their insoles with PURE antimicrobial treatment so you know they can stand up to the grind and sweat from any workout.
The pace insoles are easy to put into any sport shoe, from a running, skate, or hiking shoes I put them in. I feel the comfort and cushioned experience of the insoles has held up extremely well over the last 6 + months of use in a variety of shoes and activities. I sometimes have knee problems from a pre-existing injury and after wearing these insoles for a few months during workouts I feel I did notice a slight difference (less pain after workouts) than before. I like the fact that I can feel the arch support, my arch is on the lower end, so for activities where I need a little more support these are fantastic. It’s great to know that if/when the top covers wear out, I can reorder them rather than having to replace the entire unit, and knowing the molded arch supports are guaranteed forever makes these a great purchase for many years to come. Finally the comfort level even compared to the previous Tread Lab Stride I have been using is superb. If there is such a feeling as walking on clouds this could be it.
Overall impressions:
If you suffer from foot pain and are interested in an insole that can bring you long lasting relief at a reasonable cost. The Tread Labs Pace insole is a great option that is customizable for your needs, and the replaceable foam top is durable and long lasting. Remember they have a million mile guarantee, so if you break them they’ll replace the insole for free
Dave’s Review:
Size: Men’s 10-11.5, Arch height – medium
Chris and I reviewed the Tread Labs Stride insoles a few years back. I am super impressed with the advancements they have made in just a few years. Everything from top to bottom has been improved, even the packaging received a major overhaul. But the part you should be concerned with is the insoles themselves. The improvements are vast and from my testing, your feet will not be disappointed.
I’ve had issues with plantar fasciitis as well as knee pain for years now and I find that it flares up depending on activity and footwear. When I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was the construction of the Pace insoles. The original model was made from a hard shaped piece of plastic and a softer flat piece that stuck to it with velcro. The newer models are made with a similar concept of a harder, formed partial bottom layer with a softer piece of antimicrobial foam that fits on top and is attached with velcro but that’s where the similarities end. The new model top piece is also molded and shaped and provides that added bit of shape and support that your feet need. The newer models also have the insole size, arch height, and Tread Labs logo embossed into the hard shell, whereas before it was a sticker.
The insoles are designed to encourage proper alignment of the body and it’s amazing what just a little extra support can do. I found that after wearing them for extended periods of time, I didn’t feel the same level of discomfort in my knees and feet that I normally would. I have worn the insoles in hiking shoes, workout sneakers, skate shoes, and while doing all sorts of activities. They fit well in all types of shoes and I didn’t notice where the firmer base ended and there was only the thinner, softer foam top piece. I tend to be really hard on my shoes and insoles, but the Tread Labs Pace has held up really well. If they get too worn out you can order replacements of the top molded footbed and replace them easily.
Overall Impressions:
I am extremely impressed with the visual enhancements Tread Labs made to their packaging, and insoles. But that’s not where the improvements stopped. The Pace is a really nice upgrade to the Stride from a few years back. They are really comfortable, durable, and most importantly…relieve foot and knee pain.
Pros:
- durability
- well cushioned
- great support for a non prescription insole
- true to size
Cons:
- none
