Review:
The Union Force binding is built to last and take all the abuse you can put it through. Union calls it their 100+ day per season workhorse. Most of us do not put in that many days so you should be able to get several seasons of use out of these. Not too stiff, not too soft, but strong enough to give you support in every condition and riding style. I found the baseplate on the Force binding to be pretty stiff but it allowed for a great response from the board and really allowed me to dig in on big carves. The Thermoformed EVA in the baseplate provided decent shock absorption on hard landings and choppy conditions. The Force is Union team rider Dan Brisse’s binding of choice and that speaks volumes about this binding.
Union’s Force biding is also completely tool-free which is a big advantage on cold days when you need to make adjustments. The ankle and toe straps provide good grip to your boot and have proved to be very durable. The ankle strap has enough padding to keep you pain-free and riding in comfort. The toe strap is very lightweight and grips really well once tightened down it stays put.
The buckles are made from magnesium, so they are built to last as well. Like most Union bindings they ratchets are smooth and easy to operate in any condition.
My only thought/complaint, Union should add the mini disc system to this binding.
Summary:
The Union Force binding is priced as an entry level binding but is bulletproof tough. You should easily get several seasons of use out of these bindings. The Force binding is a great all-mountain binding with a lifetime guarantee on the baseplate. Responsive, lightweight, durable at an amazing price…definitely consider adding the Force to your quiver!
